What Shape Is Your Business? Download your free scaling roadmap here: https://www.acquisition.com/roadmap-yt-d The easiest business I can help you start (free trial): https://www.skool.com/hormozi Business owners: Want to scale faster? We provide in-person advisory for companies doing at least $1M per year: https://www.acquisition.com/workshop-yt-d If you’re new to my channel, my name is Alex Hormozi. I’m the founder and managing partner of Acquisition.com. It’s a family office, which is just a formal way of saying we invest our own money into companies. Our 10 portfolio companies bring in over $250,000,000+ per year. Our ownership stake varies between 20% and 100% of them. Given this is a YT channel, and anyone can claim anything, I’ll give you some stuff you can google to verify below. How I got here… 21: Graduated Vanderbilt in 3 years Magna Cum Laude, and took a fancy consulting job. 23 yrs old: Left my fancy consulting job to start a business (a gym). 24 yrs old: Opened 5 gym locations. 26 yrs old: Closed down 6th gym. Lost everything. 26 yrs old: Got back to launching gyms (launched 33). Then, lost everything for a 2nd time. 26 yrs old: In desperation, started licensing model as a hail mary. It worked. 27 yrs old: "Gym Launch" does $3M profit the next 6 months. Then $17M profit next 12 months. 28 yrs old: Started Prestige Labs. $20M the first year. 29 yrs old: Launched ALAN, a software company for agencies to work leads for customers. Scaled to $1.7mmo within 6 months. 31 yrs old: Sold 75% of UseAlan to a strategic buyer in an all stock deal. 31 yrs old: Sold 66% of Gym Launch & Prestige Labs at $46.2M valuation in all-cash deal to American Pacific Group. (you can google it) 31 yrs old: Started our family office Acquisition.com. We invest and scale companies using the $42M in distributions we had taken + the cash from the $46.2M exit. 32 yrs old: Started making free content showing how we grow companies to make real business education accessible to everyone (and) to attract business owners to invest or scale their businesses. 34 yrs old: I became co-owner of https://Skool.com to help the many people who want to start a business online do so. Today: Our portfolio now does $200M/yr between 10 companies. The largest doing $100M/yr the smallest doing $5M per year. Our ownership varies between 20% and 100% ownership of the companies. Many of them we invested in early and helped grow (which is how we make our money - not youtube videos). To all the gladiators in the arena, we’re all in the middle of writing our own stories. The worse the monsters, the more epic the story. You either get an epic outcome or an epic story. Both mean you win. Keep crushing. May your desires be greater than your obstacles. How to steal it

setting · outdoor city
  1. 01
    Hook (0-2s)

Open with the "simple metaphor for business model" beat. No intro card, no logo, no greeting.

Brickell · Roll camera before you arrive at Brickell Ave at golden hour or Biscayne Blvd south of 5th. The reveal IS the hook.

  2. 02
    Set the frame (2-4s)

Establish outdoor city with your hero prop. Wide on the 16mm so the GT3 RS sells the scale.

Brickell · Keep the prop count to 1. More props = more cuts = lower retention.

  3. 03
    Payoff (4-9s)

Use direct to camera rant to deliver the rewatch moment. One idea, one take.

Brickell · Cut on the reaction, not the line. If it's a price reveal, hold the number on screen for 1.5s.

  4. 04
    Reaction / proof (9-13s)

Show the consequence. Bystander head-turn, valet face, on-screen receipt — whatever makes the payoff feel real.

Brickell · Casa Tua and Komodo valets are cinematic. E11even paddock for nightlife crowd. Hard Rock paddock during F1 weekend = prebuilt audience.

Your version

Variant 1

Your creator business is either a ladder or a ceiling. Here's how to tell.

Alex at the Brickell penthouse window, whiteboard or phone sketch showing two shapes: a 'ceiling' model (flat fee, one-time work, no recurring) versus a 'ladder' model (OVO's 25% management fee plus 5% recurring commissions stacking over time). He walks through how most people trying to manage creators accidentally build a ceiling.

Variant 2

One deal shape paid for my GT3 RS. The other would have kept me broke.

Alex films next to the Porsche GT3 RS in the Brickell parking garage. He contrasts two deal structures: a one-time finder's fee versus OVO's recurring 25% on gross plus 20% on ad spend. Shows how the 'shape' of your deal determines whether you stack wealth or restart every month. Ties back to the system Roster Method graduates learn.

Implicit beats explicit. Let the caption + pinned comment ask. End on the asset, not your face.

Brickell · Tag @imalexgunnar in the caption. Pin the objection comment within 60s of posting.

Where in Miami
  • Gas station · Shell SW 8th + Brickell Ave (24/7, premium pump, clean lighting).
  • Valet · Casa Tua, Komodo, E11even — pull-up + handoff is the cinematic moment.
  • Penthouse · Flow Brickell roof or your unit. Skyline backdrop reads premium.
  • Track / paddock · Hard Rock paddock during F1 weekend = pre-built audience.
  • Cold start · Brickell Ave south of 8th at 6:30am — empty street, hard light.
Variant 3

I quit my number one AE spot at ZoomInfo because the shape was wrong.

Alex walking through Brickell at night, talking about how ZoomInfo was a straight line (trade hours, hit quota, get paid, repeat) while OVO Talent is a triangle that compounds (sign one creator, earn recurring 25% on every deal they close forever). He explains that most people don't have an effort problem, they have a shape problem, and the Roster Method is built on the compounding shape from day one.
